The first night they played it was a better version.

I actually think the quality of the tape has a lot to do with that. Phipps' tape sounds almost as good as an SBD, you can hear what everyone is doing very clearly. I think there is a lot more going on in this version that we are not hearing. I can bearly hear what Leroi and Rashawn are doing.

It's really mainly dave's inflection on certain words that do it for me on the first version.

I agree completely.

Which sucks, because the lyrics aren't permenant, so we'll never hear them the same way again.

Thanks dude! I was also there. I saw the guitar and I assumed Dave was about to break into Idea of You so Shotgun was a pleasant surprise. Idea of You was the very next song played. I dig both of these songs!
