First of all, im indian, and in india there are no "chiefs" just pundits and people like that..Indian people aren't tribal at all.
and gambia is a WHOLE different place.

And having family that speaks hindi.. pantala naga pampa doesnt sound it AT ALL.

but i guess they confirmed that earlier in the thread..

Thats what I meant. The phrase has nothing to do with Gambia, and I haven't the foggiest idea how it came to be associated with Gambia. I knew the phrase was from India all the way.

What about Urdu, the other main language spoken in India? Does the phrase come from that language?

I meant chef as in one that cooks. I know the phrase has nothing to do with Gambia, and I haven't the foggiest idea how it came to be associated with Gambia. I knew the phrase was from India all the way. Sorry about assuming it was from hindi.

Pantalones is spanish for pants.

I guess I don't know much dutch (at all) but I don't think there's such a coincidence between spanish and dutch.

You might find that coincidence in oder latin languages, such as portuguese and spanish.

Thats weird. All this time I was under the impression it was one of the Indian languages. I'm glad gumbo was there to call me on my ignorance. It probably is one of the romance languages.
