Firstly, if you can't sing R&R and play then you shouldn't be the lead singer for a group just yet. Second, if you are making Billies work out with no sax or violin, then go ahead and try The Last Stop, my personal favorite song ever. Give Halloween a shot too. How about The Stone? I tried to help even though I do agree with all the others who say you should make your own music and not just copy Dave.

Try PNP->Rapunzel and some of the new songs, Hello Again, Sugar Will, Joyride, Good Good Time, Crazy Easy. If you want to have a cover band that's fine but don't complain to us about giving you our opinions we were just trying to help. Maybe you should listen if a bunch of people agree on something, as we did in this thread.

I think this is a cultural thing. If you said you were in a DMB Tribute/cover band then no one would have been confused. But to call it "your band" we assume there are going to be origional compositions.

With that being said, I look foward to hearing you guys.
My advice:

Stop being cheap and buy the cd's. Hell, you can get them online from half.com for $2-$9 each.

3 1/2 hours is a long fuckign time.... ...maybe a longer drum solo???

look at the "live" and "cover" tabs on the site's front page and look at some of the other non released songs DMB does.

recomendations i'd have are When The World Ends, Hello Again, Joyride, Cortez the Killer, Long black veil, pig, spoon, dreaming tree, #41, Tripping billies, say goodbye, get in line, what would you say, satellite, warehouse, granny, STJL, ants marching, one sweet world, best of whats around, watchtower, so much to say, anyone seen the bridge, etc.

we understand assmaster: don't question our intelligence, but the people suggesting that you play something different are suggesting that for a reason. unless you are a professional cover band, no one is gonna want to hear nothing but songs from the same artist, not eveyone shares your appreciation for the band. since you seem to think that CCR is shit, what would you say to someone who wanted to play nothing but CCR tunes, i doubt you would think that its a good idea

sorry, i just gotta add, going with your conclusion you play dave, thats fine with me. but. if you want to tribute the dave matthews band why dont you get some people to play 2/5 of the actual songs(or even addin a butch part)? leroi and boyd are important pieces of the band and in my opinion, leaving out their parts is like taking the icing off the cake. i would say at least converting their part to guitar would be respectful, and if you guys are good, that would be kick ass...

so thats my suggestion...do any and all songs but convert, for example, a leroi solo to guitar
