i agree on the DM3MD, he brought those up. he was saying that since what im gonna do to an epi chet is not making it a good guitar, and then saying that a martin with daves sig is shit if it dont have daves sig... well thats bullshit, what im gonna do to an epi chet, makes it better than a gibson, except gibson uses better wood, its a solid bodied guitar, it really doesnt matter.
but with a purely acoustic instrument wood makes allot of difference.

ive toured the gibson plant, and i can say i dont give a flying fuck if my solid bodied electric is made outa $600 a sheet wood, if it saves me $500, to get a little cheaper wood, so be it.

Um, hate to burst the bubble, but the wood definatley makes a difference.
1- I don't care what pickup you have in there, the vibration that it picks up is from the WOOD. If the wood is crap, it won't sound the same, no matter how good your pickup is (unless you have a digital one or if it's a Line 6, but we are talking about Chets here). The pickup is picking up the wood vibration. The only time when the wood doesn't matter is when it's a sound hole pickup, but then for sustain and tones of other stuff it does. I have played an Epi chet and a Gibson chet. There was a difference (and these were both just standard, right from gibson and epiphone to Good 'N Loud). The Gibson had much more of an acoustic sound, and also you could feel the better vibration on the wood when you are playing it. If it's solid top, it will vibrate a different way than if it is laminate.
Then, for quality and life span, solid wood will last longer and stay together better.
