It's not that I think the band should narrow their focus and only play one kind of music - quite the opposite. I'm all for them trying new sounds and figuring out some new stuff. I just think that Stand Up isn't as good of a CD as BTCS - not because it's not the same, but because I just don't like it as much.DMBFan63 wrote:I really like the album too. I just hate people who whine constantly when they don't get what they want from the band. I completely agree, UTTAD, BTCS, Crash, all great albums. But those were like 10 years ago.. The band is trying a new sound, big whoop. If you don't like it, don't listen to the new album! I'm sure you'll be able to deal with it

But we've yet to hear these songs jammed out live, and that's what the band is good at doing. I'm sure once they play these live a few times, everyone here will be changing their mindsSillyPutty wrote:It's not that I think the band should narrow their focus and only play one kind of music - quite the opposite. Maybe these things just bother a bit too much but it's the way I am...
Batson's loops are really pissing me off.
You can clearly hear where the loops end throughout the album.
Couldn't he be assed to fix them? Did he even listen to them?
They're not exactly hard to fix...jeez
Example 1:
Listen to the acoustic loop on Old Dirt Hill at the 11 second mark. There's clearly a gap there.
Example 2:
Boyds riff on American Baby about 3.5 seconds in... wtf?
Example 3:
Dream Girl at 23 seconds.. this is less obvious cause it's covered by the drumming
I'm sure there's more examples but I couldn't be assed to listen to this album again. It just has nothing to offer me.
I hate being a pesimistic ass but this album is really ticking me off.
bad lyrics
bad vocals
bad production
and bombs and shit..great

I agree, the lyrics do suck. Although the first half of the album is not that bad, the second half really sucks. It's basically dance mix/techno. Anyone know why the vocals on 'hello again' sound so bad? I really think Stand Up is their worst album to date. Which is really saying something considering Everyday sucked.

That is exactly what they did with Busted Stuff and that was sub-par was well. Face it, they need Steve Lillywhite, they were a perfect match for one another.Duffman wrote:i agree that Batson and his loops really screwed things up. i think dmb shouldn't even use a producer, they should just go into their studio with a tech guy, and make music.

Its true, Matt from antsmarching who went to the first listening party in VA was told by Bruce Flohr and others that they plan to continue working with Batson.Duffman wrote:WHATT???Nitro1515 wrote:Don't count on it, they plan to continue working with Batson so if you don't like this one chances are your not going to like the next one.andyrice_13 wrote:I figure it this way

That could all change with fan response/sales of the album though.Nitro1515 wrote:Its true, Matt from antsmarching who went to the first listening party in VA was told by Bruce Flohr and others that they plan to continue working with Batson.Duffman wrote:WHATT???Nitro1515 wrote:Don't count on it, they plan to continue working with Batson so if you don't like this one chances are your not going to like the next one.andyrice_13 wrote:I figure it this way
