about chord construction, if you're having problems visualizing the stacked thirds, it's also very helpful to consider chords from the bass note of the chord. A major chord will always be a major third above the bass note and a perfect 5th above the bass note. A minor chord is a minor third above the bass note, and a perfect 5th above the bass note.

that's why I used bass note instead of root note. i don't want to touch inversions yet
