A Fusion of Tunes

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

i did. ;)
it's grammAr, right? i thought that looked funny.

and i thought i should clarify that add9 chords were actually used a lot by Steely Dan. they call them Mu Major chords. interesting to see how influences move around. Steely dan strummed em', The Police picked them, and dave gave em' his rhythm.

It seems like a major conspiracy, but it's a pretty common practice. Even Paul Simon does it..."You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies" and "Punky's Dilemma" are just one example of how he recycles stuff. Dave is known for fooling around at soundcheck, so one day's screw-ups could be the next day's new song. Songwriters who write a lot of material actually do recycle pretty commonly.

yeah. there were a lot of realizations that different outros, intros, and fuck arounds have turned into songs on Some Devil.

"Oh" was used as an outro during the D&T tour, and the song "Some Devil" itself was played in December of 2002 right before Jimi Thing, i think.

Wow, people highly misinterpreted this.

What I was saying is that POSTING I did, all that was just silly and a little stupid for me to post, but I just was thinking about how those three songs really turn into that.

I wouldn't be surprised if dave didn't mean to do that at all. I just played the song, and discovered similarirites after a while. Then, looked at the step by step changes that would be to make Everyday. I didn't mean to say he looked at all three and recycled them purposly, or even at all. I know he receycles, I do it too. Some outros and intros, and middle parts of songs, become other songs. One of my best ones was taking an ok song that wasn't finished, and I overhauled it, and it became a pretty damn good song.

I am a big fan of dmb, and I love every song, really, I do. This whole thing was just a hypothetical observation. Just something interesting and silly to think about. Not something serious and important.

Alright, the confusion is gone :) so, peace to you all.

Nah, I didn't mean it like that, I was just trying to clarify. I understood exactly where you were coming from, thespian.
