Welcome bartender, enjoy your stay here.. I had that problem when I first started, they pretty much told you all the things you need to know though.. Just practice little parts of the song till you can get the chord changes down, then move ahead to the next part and so on, beleive me, once you get this down, you'll be singing along with dave and jamming out all day.. :-d

The best for this type of practice is probably Crush. All the chord transitions don't make you move very far (except for going into the chorus).

All you need to do is just keep on practicing and practicing and practicing. And if you aren't used to doin a certain chord the way it's played by dave (who has some weird formations of chords) just play it the way it feels comfortable to you. Remember that you have to develope your own style of playing. You don't have to play cetain things certain ways to make it sound the same. I learned that the hard way. Just do whatever is comfortable to you.

i found that once i learned the song lyrically and vocally that once i learned the chords to the song the rythm just came to me. like everyone else has said, learn the chords, after you've learned the song. if you can sing to the song word for word(beat for beat), after learning how to play the chords all you have to do is learn work on your smoothess, otherwise known as(yes, the dreaded word).......practice.

Yea, I know the lyrics to almost every song, so I got that down, I can sing already sing to bartender and ddtw, but those dont take much. But thanks a lot guys your a huge help, I'll tell you later if its working out any good(99% chance it will

One thing that my guitar instructor told me was to think of the chords as shapes and just practice making those shapes. Eventually you will just be able to make them and not have to think about it. Plus many chords use the same shapes so once you get the basic shapes down well you are good to go and most of the other ones are just small variation.
