No it doesnt hurt to play on coated strings, it hurts to play on dirty strings, my callouses are pretty tough. I was just wondering if anyone had the problem of the coating peeling off.

I own an AW100 and it's equipped with elixirs. I swear by them.

Here's a vid of me playing with said guitar if you're want to hear it:

I really like EXPs too, but I hate the cost. Same with the Elixers with the coating. I usually buy the 10 packs of D'Addario EJ16s for like $30. I gig about twice a month and usually like a new set each gig, so I can't justify $12-15 every other week.

elixir lights, nanoweb, phosphor bronze = perfection

and if you have a dreadnaught or strong fingers, the mediums are incredible. I don't like the feel of mediums or i would use them just because the sound is phenomenal, especially on elixirs.

Those EXPs suck. Elixirs are ok for general day to day playing, but I hate the way they sound out of a PA, at least with my set-up.

Phosphor-Bronze is def the way to go, still searching for that perfect one though.

I love uncoated, its just not fiscally efficient for me right now in terms of keeping strings clean
