I have two Epiphone Chet Atkins. I got one local and one off of eBay. The eBay one was about $400 Canadian and was well worth it. I got it a month ago and my Boston Terrier snapped the head off of the neck. I modified my other one to the Fishman Acoustic Matrix pickup and it sounds awesome. Wicked guitar for the money. Makes the original epiphone pickup sound like crap, which it basically is. I say go for it, I am completely happy with mine. They sound good, they play great and they aren't like every other guitar out there.
I think I'm going to convert my broken one to a Baritone.

i dunno what im asking because i dont know what people are willing to pay. i think they stopped making it so i dunno if it goes up in value or w/e but i would be happy with 3 hundred somethin plus shipping.

still curious, what's the difference between Gibson Chet and Epiphone Chet? (concering specs and tone differences)
the gibson has better a "better" pickup and "better" electronics. I think its also made from a denser wood... the end result is it sounds better. more deep and resonant. thats not to knock the epi, i have been blown away by it for the price. its a pretty sweet guitar.Sciaracastro wrote:it's a fair pricepraisedave wrote:i upgraded the knobs and added a strap button, pickup is still stock because i was impressed by it.Sciaracastro wrote:curiousity: how much are u asking? and did u upgrade anything (pickups etc etc) ?praisedave wrote:if anybody is interested im selling mine, i was in contact with jacobie but he stopped emailing me back...

Good prices on the Gibson SSTs. If you call any of the stores, ask the for the lowest price they can give you. Thats how I got my early model SST for 200 cheaper, than what it was going for. Good luck

GrateDMB21, this may sound like a silly question, but I am not too familiar with pickups. The Fishman Matrix that you put in yours, was it the narrow or wide format....or does it not even matter. I am asking this because I will be getting a Gibson Chet soon, and I'd like to have similar modifications done to it. Also, I belive Fishman has since discontinued the Cleartone Saddle, do you know where I could get one? Thanks.
