i disagree w/ overrated. i think it's an amazing song if you haven't heard it a billion times ie, me cause i don't listen to the radio for that very reason. and you can't argue overplayed as whether or not the song is good or not. it's not the artists fault that the radio stations play the same 8 songs on loop all day long.

Say what you want about that song (it definately got overplayed) but it ushered in a new era of music. If you were old enough to remember when that song came out you'd have a different perspective.

I was old enough. 10th grade. I hated it. I always thought they were talentless & extremely annoying to listen to. They did usher in a new genre but it only lasted 2-3 years.... not saying much.
DMB does not belong on that list at all. I do believe if a list was made of actual good music (not to say there aren't a couple good songs on that list) they would find a few spots on there. The problem is that everyone has different tastes so it would be impossible to make a good list.

I wasn't a fan of Nirvana at the time either, but that's just BS. Most of the new rock music you hear today has at least some Seattle/grunge influences. Nirvana, love 'em or hate 'em, were revolutionary.

hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you
