that is peter at van rypers. He isn't asian, the dude is just squinting from the sun and the video is a little grainy anyway.

I think DMB is better without the piano. The only reason I like butch is usually his solo's are just long enough for a piss break at a show. And Greisar just seemed a little too intrusive. I dunno, with that extra instrument theres just a little too much going on.

Yeah, I didn't think it could be anybody but Peter, but I zoomed in on that video pretty close and there were several clear shots, and it didn't look ANYTHING like him, and he didn't really play like him either. Everyone else in that thread agreed that it wasn't him too.

There's no way to answer this question. Peter wanted his own career, and granted he's not making as much $$$ or achieving a great deal of fame as DMB is, these things may not be as important to him.

why doesnt anyone go to antsmarching.org, look up the date of the van rypers fest, and see whothe hell the piano player was?

I did and no guests are listed which tells you that it is Peter because he wasn't a guest he was part of the band.

We did this already, the video contradicts what's on Ants and the almanac.

Honestly, Peter's piano playing was a little to tripped out for me and of course because he played with DMB in the early days everytime I hear him along with DMB it's usually a poor recording and Dave's doing his extremly honkified kermit voice. (I don't mean white, I mean honk honk ya dig?)

Some of the salsa jams and other tripped out lines he added just wasn't my style, I've seen a lot of guys do this with bands musically. I really believe that he was the sort of personality that wanted to be in charge and as skilled as he is he couldn't be that guy in DAVE Matthews Band. The other players are better musicians than Dave, but they saw something in Dave and that something along with many great albums led DMB to become one the top touring bands in the country.

Could it be Peter's pride at that point in time that fucked him over in the long run, who knows? I hope he's happy playing keys along with Gwen Stefani's brother at Six Flags.
