Is there such a thing as a cheap Martin

i actually went and put a martin on layaway today. it's a d series. I forgot the exact model, but i'm getting it for $700, and it's list is $1200 i think..or some madness like that.

opinions on guitar types:
i have a fender and that plays awesome.
taylors are beautiful guitars, but the acustic/electrics don't sound that good.
deans are okay....good looking and sounding for the money, but i think ibanez ranks too.

For me there is such thing as a cheap martin. i get all instruments for 5% above what my store buys it for

Not to sound like an asshole but how do you put $700 down on a guitar and forget what kind it is?
