Dave is much more tasteful . And he's a fuckin musical genious, while mayer imo has more skill but can't write for shit.

when mayer writes something similar to the stone/pig/dont drink/btcs i'll be impressed

that too. i know people who have played rock-ish guitar for years who can't even play some of daves stuff.

im torn, Daves style is much more original, but once you get the hang of his style it isnt hard anymore. John's stuff sounds nice as well, and looks simple on paper, and the actual notes and formations are easier that daves, but his timing and stuff is much more complicated to me...

im sure this will get interesting, and please no fighting, i dont want this one gettin locked like the last one.

Why dont you do a fucking search and read the other million threads on this and not waste bandwhith?

It all comes down to who writes the better songs as a whole, and we all know who that it is. If I have to hear John Mayer do that da da dup dadadada in that Wonderland song one more time I may have to end my life lol.

Mayer could probably play better than Dave in some instances, but Dave's a totally different style, totally percussive and I won't even try to say how Mayer plays because I honestly don't know but it's like comparing apples and oranges... It all comes down to who could kick who's ass, and we all know Dave would own Mayer.
