jason, come on, man, even I'm getting sick of this, and I've tried to support you throughout because you're a good guitarist and have always been nice to me. but its the same damn thing all the time, if people don't listen to your covers then tell you that you are God (or better still, Dave! j/k) you get all upset...
i think maybe you have some self esteem problems...i understand that you want people to praise you but honestly! the purpose of this board isn't "look at me, I can play every one of Dave's songs exactly like he does!" the purpose of posting songs here is to get INPUT...
so you do a bunch of covers and they're good, great...just dont expect everybody to jump in and throw their two cents in after they already told you your first covers were good. people get sick of having to give you a parade every time you record something just to keep you happy... so i wouldn't be so defensive, man.
sorry if i've offended you, i don't mean to start anything, i just wanted to say my piece, i hope i haven't anyone mad.

DmbFanJason wrote:yea...isnt that fuckin annoying fire????...i did that because I was being a prick...and I know for a fact that people do that shit to me...what the fuck is "good job overall" that is the most bullshit statement in the world of critiquing....and fire, you have standards too now...ever since TS...but anyway, cricket, I know what you are saying about the redo of WWYS,yeah that was boring...anyway this is just irritating because I have gotten better, yet I get less recognition...so I think "Am I going crazy?"...annoying...peace

Cricket how would it make you feel if I said you're not "on-key" when you sing and the guitar part is off, esp. the rhythm...but it sounds ok, which is what I have thought of most of your covers...thats just fuckin rude right??????????????????????????????? but hey, thats my honest opinion...whatever...I am not god...holy shit...that sounded weird when I said it?????????? hmm, damn.....
I have been told that I have been off key....I have been told of mistakes that I have made...so what do I do? I relisten to myslef and see if I agree with it...and allthe times that I have been told of something it has been accurate...that means I go back and try to improve where I am lacking....

And no you are definately not god...

Damn!!!! If someone posts a song on this board, not everybody is going to say it was awesome or it sucked. People are constantly joining these boards, so if a common poster puts a song up and a new member hears it, they may think its awesome when someone who has heard the common poster before thinks its as good as the others. Does that make any sense? Kinda like what someonse else said, people get accustomed to hearing certain people post a bunch of songs, so their standards have gone up. I just think that if someone posts a song and expects it to be hailed by everyone, there is no point in posting it. For instance, I am a beginner guitarist and I posted two songs because only about 5 people have ever heard me play guitar. Also, none of those people know anything about guitar, so they didn't point out mistakes. I don't even know if I hold a pick right, I just started playing from tabs sites like this and have never played with/for anybody. So, if you have already posted many songs that are pretty decent, then maybe trying another style of music, some originals, or diff. instrument may be a good idea. Let's try to change it up a little bit. This post was made as an attempt to clear the air of all this crap. It also is not pointed at anyone, just everybody in general to take a look at and think about instead of trying to argue.....Have a good one all.

If thats what you actually want...why are you posting it on this board...what may be spectacular to your grandmother and her nursing home cronies might actually just be ok in this forum, especially if we all know what you are capable of...

Now don't get me wrong...I don't come close to your skill as a guitarist...but that doesn't give you the right to be a dick if you don't get the review you want...

For what it's worth, I think Jason has a VERY good point in this one.

I think we've gotten a little too lackadaisical in our helping out of other guitarists. When we first started, we got very in-depth critiques (especially xoosh, he does really good on those) that would highlight certain areas of the songs that were either good, bad, or just needed a little work. Now our most common responses are:

"Good work man."
"Great, keep it up!"
"Great job my brutha..."

when we should really be helping each other out with ACTUAL critiques, not just pats on the back. I tried searching for Xoosh's thread on how to critique peeps but i couldn't find it, but i'm sure most of us remember it. We need to be more specific in our critiques and give real reasons and list real positive aspects and tell each other what needs more work.

Ah well.
