dont skimp out on amps... if you play a squier through a mode 4 halfstack itll sound better than a les paul througha squier amp...
i have a blues driver and i must say its a great pedal, but my tone is so great because of my amp.
if you have a les paul, you should be able to afford a good amp. i only paid about $500 for my Traynor.

Here's what I do. I like Marshalls, but they seem to only have one sound you can get out of it. It's a good sound, but not good for a widespan of styles.
What I do is take a Fender tube amp, to get the clean and warm tube sound. Then, if I want the drive and "wall of sound" that the marshall gets, I take out my Marshall Blues Breaker stomp box and it gives me what I need for a marshall sound.
So, I say if you want a variaty, get a good tube amp, and get stomp boxes to give you more sound, but not tons of bucks on many amps.

Or, get a Line 6 pod or pod pro.
Mmm.. I had something like that in mind.
So the most affordable (meaning = really cheap ) tube amp I could get? What would that be? Nothing big and fancy, just something that would suffice for a small gig at maybe 100-200 people.
I have a Fender Blues Jr. It's actualy really nice. That's the tube amp I own. It works great, sounds great. I used it on 3 different performances during Fine Arts Week at my Highschool (normaly about 100-300 people in there). I leave it in my living room, since I have my rack and Pod Pro in here (my bedroom). I have a Marshall Blues Breaker 2, Holy Grail Reverb, and Dunlop Roto Vibe (leslie speaker) pedal in the living room with my Fender.
So, yeah, go with a Fender Blues Jr. and get yourself stomp boxes and pedals. That will be a great and easy way to get the sound without buying multiple amps. Also, try to get acressories that plug in and have batteries.
