Capo on 1??? It's completly different notes for the song then...
That's his way. It doesn't have to be the exact same as Dave's.
I never said it has to be played the exact same way as Dave does...it just seemed wierd to me that he's playing almost EXACTLY the same tab...but with a capo on 1. I guess capo's are used to adapt the chord voicing to match the tone of vocals.......but in that case, don't you usually change the chord being played to match the right note in relation to the capo?
I never said there was anything wrong with it...I was just saying it seemed strange to be moving everything up a half step

I have a recording of Dave playing it solo and it's raised half a step.
I can try find out the date for you when I get home if you like.
I would love to hear it if you could get the clip
Also...just out of curiosity...when was the song played and how do you think Dave went about raising the song a half step? Before this current tour...and most people will be able to confirm this, Dave NEVER used a capo...and he hasn't ever tuned his entire guitar up 1/2 step. He tunes it down 1/2 step for the Last Stop but that's it.
I'm not at all saying your wrong....I'm just curious to see this from an informational standpoint.
Here ya go.. it definately doesn't sound like it's in standard.
I might go see if I can get the rest of the show.
I just downloaded the other song dave played on 5-16-02 radio show, Beauty of wynona, and it was raised half a step so either he was playing with a capo or his guitar was tuned up.
Ya know what....you are 100% right....VERY, VERY wierd. WOW....that's the first time that I(and I'm sure anyone) has ever heard Dave use that tuning...interesting.
Well, I do apologize for making a comment on it...although to my knowledge at the time I was correct.
I'm curious to know why that was like that...interesting...well, sorry man

I wasn't trying to mean if that's how you took it. But yeah, capos are uses mostly to adapt to the vocals. In some cases, you could just change the chords. BUT in the case of BOWA, it has some open strings, which would be hard to make up for with no capo, you know what im saying? You'd have to change the flow and everything. But with a capo, you can keep that same flow and get those open strings, without having to adjust your fingering.
I've heard some old dave recordings where it sounds like he's tuned down half a step, or tuned up a bit. I always attributed that to bad taping conversions back in the day of analog. (especially when the sound tonal quality seems off)
On the notion of playing a dave song in different tuning, I myself play Crush in double drop D instead of just drop D.. Sometimes I play Crash tuned down a whole step. I do the same with Led Zeppelin songs to. Anyways thats my two sense.
Its like... getting two birds stoned at once. (Ricky-trailor park boys).
can someone host/reshost that BOWA, it wont work on trippin's site. i'd love to hear it
