Gibson Chet

Can anyone explain to me, why when I look the Gibson Chet SST up on any other site it tells me it is a electric (NOT acoustic-electric)? Yet this site states it as an acoustic and that is what I still beleive it to be.

It's been hashed before around here, but I think the consensus was that the Chet is effectively an electric-acoustic and not an acoustic-electric. The main reason was that it has no totally acoustic projection ability and, frankly, sounds like a wet fart not plugged in. Thus, it is chiefly an electric instrument but is not an electric guitar by the traditional defnition.

I kind of like playing it unplugged occasionally for just noodling around at home late at night. But that's the extent of its usefulness when not plugged in.

When someone asks me about it I usually explain that it is an electric/acoustic that is not hollow which reduces feedback. Most people get that short explanation.
