Thats not true. How can a band not hear of the Grateful Dead. Especially Dave Matthews Band. So what you are saying is, he went through 20 something odd years of his life without ever hearing of the GRATEFUL DEAD.

not to mention coran capshaw their manager was and is a giant dead fan, so we would have to go under the assumption even if dave had never heard of the dead (highly unlikely) coran would have introduced dave at least to some of the dead's material. hell they used a similar grassroots technique to that the dead used (tape trading, non-stop touring, etc...)
