Dave has mentioned in at least one article (or maybe an old AOL chat) that John Denver was one of his biggest influences. So in other words, you are full of shit man.

i thought i read in one of kahns gay threads in ndmb that the dead had little to no influence on dave
Yea, dave said he hadnt even heard of them until they had to open for them so yea....plus the Dead suck.
Thats not true. How can a band not hear of the Grateful Dead. Especially Dave Matthews Band. So what you are saying is, he went through 20 something odd years of his life without ever hearing of the GRATEFUL DEAD.
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

not to mention coran capshaw their manager was and is a giant dead fan, so we would have to go under the assumption even if dave had never heard of the dead (highly unlikely) coran would have introduced dave at least to some of the dead's material. hell they used a similar grassroots technique to that the dead used (tape trading, non-stop touring, etc...)
