Advice for a new purchase

Post by Bullseye4hire »

I have been playing for a year and half, for me this isnt very long, but i have learned alot by myself and through some theory classes i took. I currently play an epiphone and i think i am ready to move on and take my guitar playing to new heights with a better guitar...I am willing to spend up $450 (it isnt alot of money but i am a poor college student) so if anybodys knows what i could get the best "bang for my buck" i would be very thankful for your advice...

In that range, I would check out Takamine and their line of midpriced guitars. Great tone for the price. People will undoubtedly tell you to try the Taylor 110, but these people are lying and trying to kill you.

I think I speak for both Fatjack and myself when I say go with an Alverez. I've had mine for a year now and I think they are some of the best guitars out there.

take a look at some cheap Tacomas. They are pretty good, better than alvarez, IMO.

Alvarez all the way. If you don't want electronics you can get a really really nice one for 450 that will kick the crap out of the 110. I have an AJ60 which was 500 without the case, 600 with.

i must say I highly reccommend Tacomas as well, although i dont know if your gonna be able to find one in your price range besides the little papoose one they make. I purchased a tacoma chief c2 about a year ago and im still amazed when i see and play it. the body style turned me off a bit, but eventually it grew on me and i learned to love it. the step down from the c2 is the c1 which runsaround 650ish i tihnk.
