yeah this is one of his easier songs to understand but i still have trouble trying to figure out who is saying "save me"
i think since satan is offering Jesus all of this stuff that Jesus is saying he doesn't want it but instead he asks him to save him knowing that he can't.
so i guess it means that no matter what the devil can offer, he can't save you.
*first post! this is an awesome website and i'll be hanging around the boards a lot more
I guess this is my interpretation, well not really mine, but partially mine. I got it from one of my friend's mom. Obviously this song is about Jesus. Walking in the desert for 20 days, walk on for 20 more. I have two interpretations on who the singer is.
1) It's simply another person who needs proof of god in their life. He says he doesn't need him to stop the sun, or spread his wings. He just needs him to save him. Nothing special. Just save him. And the answer to this is "You might try saving yourself." That God will always be there, but that you need to help yourself sometimes.
2) The Devil. Taunting him. Lines like "Why don't you take a drive with me?" Tempting Jesus. Rather than offering him the kingdom of heaven if he prays homage to the Devil, he's simply saying "Look if you 'save me' I'll give you a ride out of this desert.
So yeah I just felt like writing the down. Any thoughts?
yeah, the song's pretty self-explanatory. on the MTV show he said it was a modern rendition of the walking through the desert story...nice interpretation, though.
