Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

Set everything flat and go from there. Try plucking in different places...I used to chase stefan's tone all around, but I eventually found my own. His influence is there (in my tone) but it isn't HIS exactly. I could get it, but I do'nt like it when I personally use it.

it's all preference, whatever you think sounds better. bass to DI to PA or bass to amp to PA.

He has a Lane Poor pickup in the flea-4 and a SD Basslines pickup in the flea-5. He uses Thomastik-Infeld Power Bass Strings, 45-105 on the four string, and I think 45-125 or 130 on the 5 string. The five string flea is custom made with 24 frets. All of his basses are fitted with Shure UHF wireless systems, those are the only other modifications to the fleas.

since i only play a 7 string bass nowadays, i have to go with Dean Markley Will Lee's signature set.
but when i played 4, i always had DR Lo-riders, the best strings IMO. Long-lasting =)
