I'd seen a double sharp, but in classical music like you said. I've never seen a chord notated as a double sharp.

im sorry i have seen double sharps before, but i was a drummer so i never knew what it meant. Whats the point, why isnt it just the next half step up?

i assume he means that all of them are 7#9 chords. its a very funky, and pretty common chord
adding the #9 without the seventh would be odd, and i doubt thats what he meant
