When I Play DMB Songs....

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

When I Play DMB Songs....

Post by TurbulenceXM »

Well ive been playing Dave's songs for a couple of months and ive been doing pretty good. Theres only one problem. Sometimes when I play the songs where you have to stretch out your fingures like Crazy, my pinky locks up on me for about a second when i go to the next chord. It messes me up when im really getting into his songs. Am I doing something wrong when im playing or is it just me?

just keep on practicing with your pinky, it should eventually loosen up and stop locking. that's pretty much all i can give you for advice, heh sorry.

Use a capo so the stretches arent as bad. Then lower it as necessary
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Just follow the tabs on this site and focus on stretching out your hands. Dave uses all of his fingers when playing. Once you get his style it flows soo smoothe.

Mine did that a lot when I started playing.
It's like...I'm telling the pinky to bend, but it won't. Very frustrating. :x

I find that a good finger stretch always helps loosen my fingers up.
Also, it's good to wash your hands before you play (warm water helps loosen your fingers up) and it will help keep your strings clean, making them last longer.

I'm also partial to cracking my fingers like a motherfucker before I play. :D

i noticed that happens to me a lot, too. mainly when i am playing the chorus to the stone, my pink locks up on the 2nd to last chord there, so when i stretch out to get the last chord, my pinky kinda snaps back into place. sometimes it doesn't too, and then i have to stop and stretch my hand out. it's a pain in the ass, but you'll get it.
