how many stand up songs will you learn to play?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

The more I mess around with some of these, the more I see your point.

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

Most of the songs are still guitar driven (Dream Girl, Stand Up, American Baby, Smooth Rider, Everybody Wakeup, Hello Again, Louisiana Bayou, Stolen Away, You Might Die Trying, and Hunger). With Tim, there is a chance for all of these songs to be played and not sound too bland.

I think there are maybe two or three songs that could sound good acoustically, in the D & T. Most definatley dreamgirl has potential. But overall, i think dave has reached a point in his songwriting life, where he feels he needs, or has to develop a new style, simply becuase he has written so many great great songs, that he needs new direction. Imagine if you were good enough to write a song like the stone, a very unique, creative, and pretty amazing piece of work - and that was about 7 or 8 years. Now what, can he write even better songs than some of his past classics- we all know what these are. Imagine the pressure he must feel to live up to his past songs. I think the new cd is good, but kinda lacks that dmb feel that makes them special. Its just not that exciting. But compared to most albums released this year, its still probably gonna be one of the best. crazy. It just sux that we are getting to the end of an era. Maybe one, possibly two more studio release from DMB. They still rock.
