Grey Street (Solo Acoustic)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Grey Street (Solo Acoustic)

Post by mraz698 »

So i'm trying to play grey street using the "solo" tab from this site. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which fingerings work the easiest for each chord. Thanks.

thats a good question, i dunno if its right.. correct me if i am wrong someone, but this is how i do it..

for the first chord 7xx77 i use my 2nd finger on the first 7 and then 3rd on the next 7 and 4th on the last 7.
On the 3xx43 and 5xx65 i use my 1st finger on the 3 then my 3rd finger on the 4 and the 2nd finger on the 3 and same for the 5xx65

on the 2xx23 i use 2nd finger on 2 and 3rd finger on the next 2 and my 4th finger on the 3 (i hold it the same way that dave holds crash chord after the part in crash that goes 0122100- the 2xx23)

and then i go to the 3xx43 using the same fingers i used for this chord earler and then start over..

i like this way because your 3rd finger, if you notice, stays on the same string for each chord.. so keep the third finger on the same string and form the chord around it.. i hope this is helpful
and all the little ants are marching..

i use my 2nd, 3rd and 4th finger for the 7xx77x. then i use 1st, 2nd and 3rd for everything else. also, this chord 2xx2x2 is good as a replacement of 2xx23x
and so is 3xx45x in place of 3xx43x

I actually dont think that chord sounds right. I like the 2xx23x.

I finger it the same as the others have said.

i agree with that, i li ke the 2xx23x the best and its easier to play.. my 3rd finger does not move thoughout all the chord trasitions, it says on the same string
and all the little ants are marching..

you only do the 2xx2x2 the first time, then you do the 2xx23x the second. so the "tim/leroi/boyd" part goes, on the b string, 7 3 5 7(2 on e) 3 5 3 5(other alt chord, 3xx45x) instead of 7 3 5 3 3 5 3 3.

these are just ways to mix it up

tune to EADGAE and play the song regular, sounds very nice

EDIT: but you have to do the chorus with barre chords.

hey all, this is my tab... if you can even call it that. props go to kanter for getting the basis for me to just add on to easily. anyway.. the way i play it is:

for the 1st chord: 7xx77 (middle/x/x/ring/pinky)
for the 2nd chord: 3xx43 (pointer/x/x/ring/middle)
for the 3rd chord: 5xx65 (pointer/x/x/ring/middle)
for the last chord: 2xx23 ( pointer/x/x/middle/ring)

hope that helps and im glad people are getting good use out of this
