Good Good Time & Suburbia

Post by joyrider36 »

Hey sorry i dont know what my original user name is so i made a new one, its been a while....anyway, i just learned this song about a week ago and for the first time felt compelled to record and post for the first time. It was posted at ufck so sorry if you have already DL'ed it. The guitar is mediocre and the voice is pretty damn rough. Im working on playing it better but this is what I have so far, thanks in advance for suggestions!

Don't be so hard on yourself, your voice is excellent. You just need to develop your own.

I dont know what you are saying. I actually like your voice. I bit too much like daves...but I like it. Keep it going. Good guitar work. Very good cover.

well thanks a bunch! Ya know its weird the only reason i had any interest in playing was because of dmb, the sole reason i got a guitar 3 years ago. and dave's voice is beaten into my head so I do find it hard to find my own voice, seems like everything i do even other artists songs comes off as sounding "daveish" but its something I will do my best to work on.

In my mind, it is not a bad thing. No one else sings like dave so to someone who doesnt listen to dave will find it unique and fresh. There are plenty others like Howie Day and Mraz that ,to me, end up sounding the same. So if that is what comes natrual, keep doing it.

That's not the point.

I want to listen to Ryan, not Dave.

In response to BK33

Ohhhh. Your voice sounds too much like DAVE. Screw ya'll. What the hell is the point of doing a cover if you don't sound remotely like the artist. Do you how many people try to imitate Daves voice and fail miserably.....This guy sounds natural and good. If his voice patterns align with Dave's then so be it.

I thought it was a great cover. I really dig your voice & if it sounds TOO mUCH like Dave, then they are jealous.
