Mic Help

OK so I want to get a mic and stand. I do not want to spend over 100$. I want to get some kind of a package deal, that comes with everything I need. Maybe something like this.....

If I get this will i be able to plug it right into my amp? This seems to be the best deal I have found so far. Does anyone have this one, or somehting like it? Or does anybody know of a package deal that is better than this one?

They have adapters you can buy that convert the Low Z connection from the mic to a High Z 1/4" connector, like your guitar jacks. You could get one of those and then plug it into your amp.

If you've got an amp with a vocal channel, it should have a Low Z jack as well, and perhaps even phantom power.

I had a sennheiser e835 and it was a great vocal mic. I'm not sure about this one.
Of course you can't go wrong with a Shure sm57,sm58, etc.
You also don't NEED to get it in a package. Just figure out what length cable you need and pick a cheap boom stand and your set. Everything on those big internet stores is already marked down to bare minimum so there's no real point to getting a package deal. Also, some stores like http://www.music123.com have outlet sections where you might save a few bucks.
You might also be able to save some cash going thru ebay.

shure baby, then get a stand used. theres no disadvantage in a used stand

ok after looking at these a little more, the shure mic's do look real nice. But I am looking for a mic that i can use for my guitar(as well as other instruments) and my voice. In the mic description they say that the Sm-57 is used for recording instruments and the Sm-58 for vocals.. So what should I do now?

hey thanks guitar guy, just what i was looking for.. I think im gonna go with the shure sm58.. everywhere I go people say its the best mic ever made..

I have SM58's and I love them. Very true vocal sound, at a price that doesn't break the bank.

well I am thinking about doing some open mic's in the future, but for now I just want something good that i can practice singing on and maybe do some recordings.

You'd get by with that mic but if I were you I would consider getting a condensor. The Studio Projects B1 is regarded as a really good all round mic and you could probably get it for a bit less than $100.

Good call. If your using it strictly for recording than get the Studio Projects. Although you would need phantom power which may be an issue.
