the Jason approach seems to grab attention...well upon mr. westom's request, here it is again...as I posted originally, this is all improv except the main guitar track...I added the 12 and I couldn't get good input from my external pickup...so it is kinda weak in spotd clarity wise...well I figure there is a whole new crew filing in these parts, so why not re-post it on request

good job as always. but are you bending something on the verse? it sounds a little off, but it may just be the guitar itself...

you must be talking about the sliding....he's sliding into some of the notes I think, which makes it that much more awesome!

yeah, the bend is on the 12..that is what Tim plays for the D&T style...

well you may be bending too much or not enough because it doesn't sound right. its understandable considering bending on a twelve aint too easy...

yeah, but i never really like that version. besides you do your own thing, don't play just like Tim. i'd be much happier to here your own arrangement...

this is from about over a half year ago...I tried to mimic the acoustci D&T style to SOME extent...but I'm not that good, so I just played whatever...I just LOVE that bend in there...no bigie...is-all-good man

I am not going to debate whether there is bend in there or not.. 'cause I have a recording from '97, and there is nothing that even resembles what you play during the verse on my recording.. mostly scattered notes, more percussive than melodic. But, I am going to have to say that the bend sound bad :-p sorry. whether it is accurate or not, it still sounds sour. otherwise, you did well.

I actually like the bend...so there. I would like to hear more emotion in your voice. Just imagine Dave doin a little dance and bouncing up and down. Not to intentionally be rude, but strictly as a colorful simile, it kind of seems like your vocal cords are cemented to your chair. Like you might be trying too hard to hit every note and the tightness is coming through. I think the most important thing about music is having a great time. The reason I learned how to play DMB songs is that I like to put the strap on my guitar and dance and sing around my room. I like putting on little concerts for myself when the real thing isn't an option. Maybe try smiling while your playing it if your not already, or bobble your head around a little bit, and have more fun with it. Just a picky suggestion that might find you well.

It's funny that you say that because I've found the same to be true - if you try smiling or frowning according to the mood of the song, it very much changes the way you sing. However, when the song is difficult to play and requires some concentration, it becomes infinitely more difficult to sing at the same time. I discovered while recording myself play and sing that the more complex the song, the more I slur my words! So now I try to articulate a lot more when I play

Anyway, just sharing my two cents!

As for the song, fire, you kick ass! The Timmy part kicks major ass! I've listened a hell of a lot to the D&T version, so I very much like and appreciate the now famous bend
