Composing questions

Post by Tranman66 »

I have listened to music on the board, and it is quite awesome. How do you come about composing your songs? Is there a process you might go through? and last of all, how did you get your chords? i know you can look at scales and chords chart, but how did you come up with yours? Thank you.

This isn't for everyone, but I find a nice fatty helps the creative processes. I never write down my songs, but I try to record the ones I like, and then eventually attempt to write lyrics after I have a progression worked out.

I'm not sure there really is a "great" method to writing songs, everyone seems to do it differently, but I dont think chord charts are what you are looking for. Just experiment with what you already know and you may end up writing something.
