I'm tryin to learn the solo of Timmy's I'm using the tab from this site but what are all the (h)'s and (w)'s mean?? Any help or tips on playin this solo are appreciated.

H is usually defined as a Hmmer On , and W i think should have been a V as in Vibrato .... But i could be wrong .....

Yeah I figured that much but look at the tab... it has 11^ (h)... do I hammer on to the 11 again?

W means bend a whole step maybe?

After he posted that last thing, the h definitely means bend a half step, and w a whole step...

Yeah i guess so pretty much

Its hard to give advice on such a thing , because its up to each individual to control their hands , others can't teach you that

Timmy stuff = PRACTICE

Edit: Play it SLOWLY!!!! Then speed it up GRADUALLY!

Yeah thats what I figured take it each measure at a time haha... PS that is a bomb tattoo (if itis a tattoo if not I'm making an appointment t/m haha jk)

Yeah, that's my tattoo on my left shoulder blade. Thanks for the comment! It seriously makes it worth it every time someone mentions it.

Does he hit the 11 b4 he bends?...thats what it sounds like to me I don't have the best ear tho

I spent a solid day memorizing this tab/solo... all in alll, it's really not that tough. With a steady rhythm, the solo just flows together nicely and runs up and down the fretboard really smoothly.

There's one tough run of notes that I can BARELY keep up with (right after dave switches up the rhythm and Timmy finishes chop strumming those two chords)...and it's sloppy. Timmy makes it sound so easy though.

The run right after this...bascially an incredibly quick scale run down, is just insane.

I can't even keep up with it when it's at 50% speed.

But yeah, if you are in to this solo...just keep at it. It's really rewarding once you can nail it. And like I said, other than a run or two, it's really not that bad.

When I'm trying to learn timmy solos, I usually slow down the solo in Sound Forge and practice with it. When I have it at X speed....increase it to 2X speed, etc, etc... this helps a lot!!

i'm such a novice and this may be better suited in the musicians forum but since the question came up as a result of things discussed on this threat i decided to ask it here. how do you vary a bend from a half or a whole step? i just picked up a guitar and taught myself, now i know basic theory simply through experimentation, but i may not be able to explain it words. i know about half and whole steps in terms of key signature, but how do you bend it half step vs whole step?
