Fretwire problem

I was playin my electric today and I noticed that on the 9th fretwire, B string, there is this tiny little notch in it. So any time i bend the string it falls in and out of the tiny notch,making it hard to bend, and has this annoying sound. Am I going to have to replace the fretwire or is there some way to just fill in the tiny notch to smooth it out?

hmmm dont know. i think you have to re-fret the whole thing though. seems like thats the only fix.

You can have it filed down. I did that to my Fender acoustic once.

RT is right on. Take it to a shop, a luthier could file it down for you no problem.

or, you could just replace the one fret. the whole thing neednt be refretted. thats wierd tho... howd it get there? was it there since you bought it.

I remember this one guitar i was performing with one night like a year ago the high E string would get stuck under one of the frets all the time. It was so freaking irritating.

replacing one fret is bad..it will have different shape, size, and thickness then the others

replacing one fret is bad..it will have different shape, size, and thickness then the others

not ifn you have the make do it... they use the same fretwire, it mat be worn down less than the others but i dont think that would make a difference. would it?

I think it was when I put my guitar on my stand, it fell face first onto my floor, and the string dug into the fretwire.

I think if the guitar company did it, they'd just replace them all..

Replacing one fretwire is done all the time. The guitar tech simply files it down to match the depth of the others...if that is needed at all.
