all the strings above the desired note mute with your palm....sort of lay it over the strings...then the strings under the desired note lay the finger your making the note with across them. It sounds complicated but it really isnt. Its hard at first but you will get the hang of it.

dave doesn't palm mute to let you know. he mutes the strings above usually with the very tips of his fingers. it's simple.

He does on Granny, after he does the low E run down on the verse, he palm mutes.

In granny, i can play that part very very similar without palm muting.. i've never seen dave palm mute.. i've seen him slap the strings with the palm of his hand while strumming.. if that's a palm mute, then eh, then he does..

if you spend too much time trying to get dave's style donw then you'll miss it. once you get it you get it. i'm contridicting myself cause but oh well. ya'll that can play daves shit know what i'm talking about. the rest of you just keep practicing.......but not too hard :lol:

yep ... I've been practicing this technique ... and trust me, nutsac muting is not as easy as one might think
