Fretboard Roadmaps is a good book to pick up. It teaches you all the notes, intervals, pentatonic scales, etc.

You should learn things the right way first. You'll progress a lot faster. I know you want to impress your friends with a bunch of songs...but if you cant play a song the right way, keep learning other stuff until your skills develop to the point where you can. You'll save yourself a lot of re-learning later.

i agree. re-learning songs sucks. even if it's just one or two chords, once you've programmed your hands to do something it's hard to break the habit.
