David Gray was discovered in a garage band in England. A manager told him to go solo, and he would manage him. In the early 90s, he did 2 albums: A Century Ends and Flesh. Critics loved them . . . no one except people in Ireland bought them. He tried a third, Sell Sell Sell . . . did worse than the first two. He almost quit, then his wife and his drummer/co-writer Clune told him to do it one more time, independantly. They recorded White Ladder in his house, and sold them from the trunk of his car. This was 1998 . . . huge hit, he was signed, Babylon was released, and then Dave heard his stuff around 1998-1999. He asked him to sign to ATO to release him in America. And that's the story.

Ok OK...calm down. He does not say it's a cover. I am assuming Betsy Brown is the girl who says "Play me a song" or " Play my song" at the very begininng of the song....turn it up, you'll here a chick's voice. Then Dave says this is "Betsy Brown's Song". Then you hear what seems to be the same girl cheer. Dave must know this whore and wanted to shag her. Also on the Prism show Dave says he picked the name Granny for the song and was open for any suggestions becasue his name was old and tirdy. Someone requested "A Thousand Pieces"...he agreed it was nice.

See Dale? I didn't disagree with you about your cover dilemma. I didn't even post in this thread until now.

Frankly, I don't give two shits.

i find it hard to think who else he was addressing in context,
george bush maby.

intersting about the granny cover, its not but thats not a bad reason to be mislead.

i heard about 120,000 tickets were sold / given away for central park, but that with all the people in the park outside the crowd chilling and dancing it could be 200,000. may remember wrong . . . ..
"mistress memory may fail one such as i when i have been so cavalier with the line between fact and approximation for a life time" (oscar wilde).

david grey's been answered, but i find it funny how his 1000 times bigger in the UK than his boss.
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"
