some one gotta help me out, i heard lws about two years ago when in the states (and really liked it) but ive never heard them since, could any one yousend it or bnp it to me.....? thanks
Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"
yea i definetly aggree, in the lws version i love when they go the bridge, but unlike the bs version its kinda like a breakdown, it gives me the chills and it is probably one of my favorite sections of the entire song, in IMO it really brings out the total emotion the band can give, and then it just explodes "How can I?" I love all the songs on the lws, but I'd have to say Captain is one of my fav lws songs handsdownNitro1515 wrote:That version of Captain is some of their best studio work ever.KahnTheRevelator wrote:If LWS were completed, it would easily have been the greatest DMB album. Captain off LWS seriously gives me chills everytime. If mastered.... holy shit i dont even know. And then who knows what would have happened for the following albums.

Personally, DMB live especially pre 2003 was a raw, emotional and amazing experience.
LWS captured that essence of the live aspect because most of the songs were not polished in that usual it-takes-50-takes-to-get-it-right-Lillywhite style (which may have been one the reasons why they kicked him out)
Dave was drinking too much yes, but I've always appreciated darker, more introspective tunes.
Those days are done, long gone.
I saw a commercial for a new t.v. show on the WB and Out of My Hands was playing as the lead in. Julia Roberts is in their newest music video. I mean a lot good bands become so popular that it's easy say they've gone way to commercial but that's just the American way. Marketing people can't afford to not attach themselves to DMB because anything that can reach a large group of folks is valuable.
Bottom line, I think the band grew tired of the way they were going at recording and creating music, and there may have been other inter-band problems and it might have just been easier to name Lillywhite as a scapegoat, fire him and then just move on. ED was a breath of fresh air, different of course to the ears of long time DMB fans but still a good album, BS was very good (although the LWS cuts are much better) and now we are led up to this new release which is just terrible.
The band's genesis has been an interesting one and I look forward to DMB's future.

i wonder since dave's days of drinking and stuff are out of the equation... would the band again have success with lillywhite?c_tietze wrote:Personally, DMB live especially pre 2003 was a raw, emotional and amazing experience.

i yearn so bad for good fresh dmb tunes. I hope someday we get more that are better or as good as btcs or lws material.
As much as i love the band. I think dave is letting other people take the wheel ( like the rest of the band and producers), which he might think is a good thing. When in reality those crazy guitar licks and emotional lyrics are what created his fan base in the first place.
Maybe someday he will at least do another solo cd. Because I wonder if he has stopped writing with his old style? Or he has a folder sitting at home with 20 songs in it that he doenst think people will like or he doenst think belong in the future of the band?
only the future will tell....
