first of all, i admit when i am wrong. i dont think i am wrong here. there is no "bible" if you will on what category this guitar should be placed under, it has its own niche. but it is not an acoustic. acoustic means that it requires no electronics to play at its full potential. the chet needs an amp or it sounds like an unplugged strat.

and the take advantage of a technicality thing came from you proving me wrong in many threads by pointing out some specific meticulous thing. like when i said the "post your guitar collection thread" was similar to "the official guitar review thread" you said that it wasnt because "I see no reviews, hence its not similar to the review thread" even though most people in the review thread usually just posted something like "my main axe", or "beater" just as people did in the guitar collection thread.

i dont know why you're so bellicose, i did everything i could to express to you that i was jokin when i said take advantage of a technicality and you get all up at arms.

This is one of those threads that starts off rough. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

The reason I jumped on you in the guitar collection thread was because your post pissed me off. "WELL, noob, you suck at posting because there's a thread kind of similar to this that is stickied but if you INSIST i'll participate in it." It's backseat-moderating (and not even well-placed), and it makes users more reluctant to post next time, which is not at all what I want to do.

If you didn't want to participate, don't post. If you did, post without that little tinge of reprimand. That's all I wanted.

Oh, and:
The steel-string version of Chet Atkins' solidbody acoustic concept, introduced in 1987, caught on quickly with rock, pop and country players, who embraced the SST's ability to produce high volume with no feedback...

i think thats what hes talking about...

and by the way, guitars are named by the type of sound they produce.

you can take a hollowbody Gibson jazz guitar (like the ES335 i think?) and play it unplugged. does that make it an acoustic guitar?

no

so, just because an acoustic guitar cant really be heard unplugged, that doesnt mean its an electric guitar. it has eletronics in it, but the chet is an acoustic guitar.
