I've been inspired...

Unread post by gcom007 » Tue Nov 19, 2002 3:33 pm

Thanks to this site I've been playing a lot more DMB lately and I'm now going to start working on getting the songs down again...I know them all, but I never play them really, so now I'm going to really try to nail the songs down. Here's a list of the one's I really want to get down again...

Spoon
Seek Up
Loving Wings
Where Are You Going?
Grace is Gone
When the World Ends
The Stone
Satellite
The Song the Jane Likes
Tripping Billies
I'll Back You Up
Christmas Song
What Would You Say
Dancing Nancies
Jimi Thing
So Much To Say
#41
Say Goodbye
Let You Down
Cry Freedom
Crush
Pig
Busted Stuff
Diggin' a Ditch
Big Eyed Dogfish (anyone who ever heard my earlier broadcasts get this)
Captain
Bartender
Raven
Everyday
Bluewater
Gravedigger
#40
Granny
The Maker
Long Black Veil

yeah, so I want to get those songs down...a lot...35...I basically know them but need to remember the lyrics and get good at them and figure out a way to sing them that sounds halfway descent for my crappy voice, and then I can do more humiliating cover broadcasts...

lookin' forward to it. I don't know Bluewater but the rest I can play but again with the lyrics - I'm not the best at remembering them. And my singing is weak. Here are the ones that I know all the lyrics too.

Ants
Tripping Billies
OSW
STJL
Crash
LIOG
The Stone
Space Between
Everyday
WAYG
GIG
Satellite

and fragments of the rest. :(

It really is a lot of work to remember the lyrics, play the song right and sing it well at the same time!!

peace,
Ken
good, and you?

big huge ditto, I used to know them pretty well but no longer...I listen to way too much other stuff besides dave to keep track and I do way more writing then playing of other peoples music, so it's hard as a mug...plus, my voice sucks atleast for dave stuff. I've been told I can sing well as a bass/baritone and also when I don't push my voice but let it go out smoother which is hard for me because I just want to belt out with passion for the music...

yeah, I guess my range is baritone/tenor like Dave's but I can't control it when I sing loud - like from the diaphragm. Quietly, I can hit the notes - well most of em. Those high ones in Spoon are pushin' it. I can only go as low as the low F note on the guitar. I could use some voice lessons, for sure
good, and you?

so could I, I sing with my headvoice way too much and I don't know how to change that...I'm trying to rearrange the way the songs are sung so as to make it easy for me to sing them and not sound terrible, I'm working on spoon as we speak...

So far I'm up to:

Ants Marching
Satellite
The Stone
Grey Street
Where Are You Going
All Along The Watchtower
Gravedigger

The ones I can play but need to work on the lyrics:
Tripping Billies
Dancing Nancies
Jimi Thing
Two Step
Crash Into Me
Lie In Our Graves
#41
Say Goodbye
Cry Freedom
Don't Drink The Water
Stay
Halloween
Crush
Bartender
Raven
Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away
Long Black Veil
True Reflections

Seems like a lot, but I'm really close on a most of them, just need to work on the lyrics. I can play all those songs perfectly fine. Now that I look at it, I should work on the lyrics before I learn how to play any new songs.

Plus there are a lot more that I can ALMOST play, but not quite there.
