I just wanted to know if anyone has used this software before, and if so, how it worked, etc. Thanks.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

I have used older versions of acid that i wasn't that fond of. This one looks better, it has a midi sequencer, the abiliity to record live instruments and tons of loops. Might be worth checking out.

If you have a mac, i would also recommend Logic. If you have a PC then look into Cubase, Protools, and Cakewalk. They are all good.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Thanks for the response. I'm looking to find something better because I've been using Audacity for the longest time, and want better sound/recording quality. I don't have a Mac, but do you have any other suggestions for Windows?

I would say cubase is really really solid on the pc side. Although if you are trying to improve your quality, software is probably not the first thing i would upgrade. First and foremost get a good Analog to Digital converter, then a good preamp, and then a good mic.

Do you use any type of USB or Firewire audio device? A lot of them like M-Audio or the Firebox come with software already so you are killing two birds with one stone.

Where can I get an Analog to Digital converter? Is it a download, or actual software that I would have to go out and buy, not that that is an issue, but I just want to make sure. I'm actually going to pick up a Shure mic tomorrow (instrument/vocal). Thanks for the help so far. I appreciate it.

An AD converter is hardware that takes the analog signal coming into it and converts it to a digital signal to your computer can process it. It is essentially a soundcard. Your computer has one built in but they are pretty shitty. Check out M-Audio stuff, I love it, its fairly cheap and produces good results.

I have the Fast Track Pro and overall I am pleased with it. My one regret is not going with Firewire which is a little more, but not much.

Also you can't go wrong with Shure mic's. If you are just going to be recording i would recommend the SM57 with a pop screen. The SM58 doesn't perform as well with its built in windscreen however its better onstage.

I was at Best Buy a little while ago, and they had one of these.

Would this be good to use? It says that I can plug my guitar/vocal mic into it, and I believe it also comes with recording software.

Yeah, depending on your budget, that's the base model but it would work. If you want to record two inputs simultaneously then you may want to spend 199 and get the fast track pro.

Thanks. I'll probably go that route then.
