First recording (minus the contest)...BOWA cover

Unread post by NJPearce22 » Tue Mar 21, 2006 8:45 pm

So, here it is...my first real recording to be posted on this site. Some of you may have heard my So Damn Lucky for the contest, but I worked on this a lot longer. I did an acoustic Best Of What's Around cover. Comments, criticisms, anything...much appreciated!

its definately obvious that you worked on this more than your so damn lucky cover. this was a great choice of song for your voice.
Constructive Critism- the timing of the words near the begininning seemed very slightly off, but this was an amazing song overall. Guitar was right on, and i liked the vocals at the end. Definatley enjoyed listening to this.

Wow! Great Job man, very clean high quality sound. What did you use to record?

Your singing is right on pitch wise for the whole song which is hard to do on this song.

The only thing I would work on is the "hey la oh oh" part. Double or triple those vocals and try to sing them in "different voices" is the only way i can put it. Maybe one take you sing it clean, the next a little gruffer and lower, and the last a little higher. Add a little reverb and it will sound like a group of singers like the original.

Good Job, its cool to see what you can do if you take some time and really work on a song. I think people rush themselves and they can't wait to get a song critiqued so they post something that is really below their ability.

This was really good and you'll only get better, keep posting!

Well, the internal mic on my Powerbook G4, Garageband, my Alvarez RD8, and myself.

Wow, that's pretty impressive you got it to sound that good. Thats a good skill to have though, getting the best possible sound out of what you have. Kudos man, keep it up.
