http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=270101 This is the Mic I got.

http://www.behringer.com/UB1204FX/index.cfm?lang=ENG And this is the mixer I got.

I got a pretty insane deal on the mixer. List price is around 150-180 but I got it for $80. I went to the music store to get some pics and some guy was arguing cause they wouldn't let him return the mixer (unopened) since he didn't have a reciept and it'd been over 6 months since he bought it or something. I dunno, I told him i'd give him $80 for it and he agreed and the music people were happy since I got him off their back.

Just using my mic input and a 1/8 to two 1/4 plug thing and cool edit pro 2.1 at this point. Eventually I would like to get a condenser mic for home recording.

Congrats, I love the Sm58. There are many audio technicians who think that the 58's and 57's if used properly sound just as good as any Neumann out there. Let me know how you like that mixer, I have a much smaller version but will soon be upgrading.

Post some samples when you get a chance.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

sm58's are usually used for performance not studio work. and for $100 you can get a decent large diaphragm condenser mic. i've heard good things about the ub1204, but i've also heard fx adds some noise to it... i dono i'm interested to hear some recordings with it see what you can do with it
