It has come to my attention that there are issues with posting covers to songs. This has to do with things like ASCAP fees and whatnot.

This did not come to my attention through DMB management, but through the post on this site and private IM's. DMBTabs.com is not in any way shape or form in trouble. We just have to refrain from posting other people's covers as it may lead to some legal issues. Anyway, we are EXTREMELY SORRY and apologize immensly. Again, please forgive me for this. Everything was a little unorganized as it was and then this little detail came to my attention.

So once again, as we have seen people already voted a little and whatnot....I'm sorry it wasn't as big as we all wanted it to be but I have to worry about keeping DMBTabs.com on the legal side of things.

So can WE continue to post covers? Or is it that there can be no covers at all in any thread on these boards??

Jkanter.....you've got to be kidding, right? We're talking about people playing 3 minute takes into $15 computer microphones and sharing it with people for opinions on how good (or in my case, how bad) they sound. This has got to be nothing more than some hoax and some jackass is sitting back laughing their ass off. I sit here everyday and log onto Grokster to download anything and everything I want......and you're telling me I can't post a 2 1/2 minute clip of me playing a DMB song? C'mon, man..let's get real. I'm in no way attacking you, you've got a killer site here, but give me a break. I can't believe this thing is serious.

yeah, I'd also like to know what the #$()%& is going on.. and how serious this is. like ,,, holy shit.... we're fuckin' tryin' to have some fun and show our respect and appreciation for DMB by playing their songs and talking and whatnot about them. what crime are we commiting?

Maybe you guys are taking this wrong. I am not saying you can't post covers. I am saying I can't host them on my server right now becuase I need to figure some stuff out. I have been reviewing a bunch of different aspect of DMB copyright for MANY DIFFERENT REASONS. People on this board that know who they are can vouch for the fact that i have been doing some copyright investigating. At this moment, I do not feel...in the ienterest of the money that it would cost to possibly have to host covers...it would be in the interest of DMBTabs.com. We have some potential funds coming in to make verything perfect and not have to worry about that. I promise you I am working on some majro shit. Anyway...........YOu guys can post cover's here no problem....I just can't host em.

I am not selling out...no matter what you think. If only you knew...peace

Jared....I was never inferring you were selling out. The jist of what I had been reading was that we couldn't post links to our covers. That's the way it sounded to me. Personally, I don't expect you to host our shit....really no need to. People can just use their own hostong sites like the have been.that seems to be working fine.
