Since everybody is posting covers......

Unread post by PilotC150 » Thu Feb 13, 2003 8:01 pm

I decided that since I can't sing I'd just post some snippets of some dmb songs.

go here: http://www.cs.und.edu/~chrisa/dmb and download the clips. They're really short.

I want opinions. Good. Bad. Tell me everything you think of my playing when you listen to these. I'm probably not gonna leave them up more than a few days because of school bandwidth.

Let's hear the voice of the dmbtabs.

EDIT: I realized I rushed almost every one of them, I'm not sure why, but I know I have to work on keeping a slower tempo.

hmmmm. what can I say. pretty not bad - GiG was pretty good I must say. The other ones are a little choppy speed/rhythm wise but that should smooth out with some practice. I'm gonna say it again, I suck at critiques. I sounds to me like you're playing them all right, but they're just kinda rough like I said.
good, and you?

I'd like some feedback. Good and bad. If you think I suck, tell me. I wanna know.

Sounds really good, but I would like to hear more than just 10-15 seconds of these songs. I thought satalite sounded the best, very nice and clear. Do you sing?

Not very well, and I'm very self concious about it.

well, they didnt sound accurate to me..it sounds like the guitar is playing too fast and sloppy...it will take practice man, but you have the idea down for dave....just keep practicing and it will improve...check the tabs for some of those songs too(esp. SMTS)...it doesnt even sound like the right notes are being hit...I would try to slow it down a little bit, would be the main thing...
I REALLY don't understand where you get off telling ironmike all that bad stuff about his cover...hope this wasnt too harsh...

there is no secret to talent, or ability, or "God's" gift...all that is bullshit...it's just practice man...so do it...late

there...is that good enough a critique for you?

J.....why so defensive, man? I've done nothing but throw compliments your way since the day I came to these boards.....I think your playing is kick-ass......you're one of the guys that has Dave's style nailed to a T. If the time comes when you post a crappy cover I'll be the first to tell you  As for the critique, I think this one does the guy a helluva lot more service than the other stuff you posted, no? I think you nailed it right on with this review.....it may not be what the guy wants to hear, but it's accurate and up front. Isn't that why we post covers, to get honest reviews? Good or bad they give us an idea of what we need to improve on.
