I love the violin too, and I like this song a lot. I like that strumming style that you have, and are those jombes (I can't spell that word) ya know the drums, bongos? very nice work - great jammin' tune. you can fuck with shit like that all night with a little help from a case of beer.

great stuff!
good, and you?

That is very cool......love the beat to that thing. You're definitely a polished player.

dang juineaux, i was listening to your billies cover again, and it's phenomenal. i'd love to hear a more polished mandolin track. i need to learn how to play that sweet little thing. i've figured out what your voice is: a cross between david gray, nick drake, and mr dylan. it's got the unpitched quality of dylan, but without being annoying, the rasp of gray, and the pronounciation of drake. i'll say this again about your voice though, sometimes it gets too nasal, and when it does, it does in a hurry, so, i'd encourage you to stay away from that, because it's freaking awesome when it's raspy and such. it's just my opinion, but whatever.

Hey thanks tico, Yea my voice has always been compared to Dylan, sometimes way to much(which kinda gets on my nerves sometimes...but hey) but Yea there is definately alot of david gray(your voice kinda reminds me of david gray also) and I love the work of Nick drake, he has such neat phrasing. Some of my older recordings were more nasally than others because I didnt really know what way my voice sounded better. Any tips to making it sound less nasally:? I was also going to try to do a little harmony, but my voice seems kinda hard to harmonize with  Anyways thanks again Tico-

i used a djembe too on my cd :) ... soul searching features it quite bluntly ( http://www.eastofbeautiful.com/music/01 ... rching.mp3 )

as for the song:

beautiful song. makes me want to add some violin music to my work... did you play the violin? how did you record it. what was your technique (like microphone placement, etc).

thanks man

I didnt play the violin, although I would love to learn. I cant find any violin players in my area so Im going to try to learn. I just wrote the song and played the guitar. We actually didnt use a Djembe, we used some congas because they were the only thing we could find. But my friend is a great Djembe player, and he put some of my other tracks. One of the other songs that he put alot of djembe in was Morning Fell.

Hey I was listening to a blues guitarist today(kelly Joe Phelps) and his voice sounded spookily close to mine (too bad my guitar playing isnt close to his :( ) hes an amazing lap steel player. I encourage anyone who likes Ben Harper to listen to him.

sounds like a tavern....
my only suggestion is to have the violin as more of a background instrument, with maybe 30 seconds or so of really melodic bits where it is turned up like it is in the whole song you have posted here. nice work.

Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."
