Dust In The Wind (Instrumental)

Unread post by Jer1400 » Fri May 14, 2004 12:12 am

I came across the voice track arranged for guitar, and after a bit of tweaking I had it streamlined. I also have the violin solo done with just one guitar, instead of two (two violins play through the solo, overlapping). That was hell. The whole thing took over 3.5 hours because the I was usually a bit off on the timing. Heh, by the time I got the timing close enough, I was so tired from playing so long I butchered it, and I was sick of recording the same thing. Ha-ha.

The quality isn't too great because I lost my good mic. and had to use the other one. Sorry 'bout that. Excuses.... *ehem* I mean explanations aside, here it is:

Now I can [finally] go to sleep. XD

ps.

Does anyone happen to know where I may purchase a metronome and the average cost of one? That would certainly, certainly save me a lot of time indeed. Also, I'm looking for an application that'd let me mesh 2+ .wav files together and see the data as I'm doing so. Sound recorder for Windows is not going to do anymore. Heh.

that was pretty damn nice. Rhythm was a little choppy, which would smooth out with practice and less actual focus on what you are playing on the guitar(it should just flow). I liked the lead too.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I still hate you, but you have a pretty good collection of nudie magazines.

Hey, not a bad job... it's a good song, you toughed it out through those backup riffs too. There is something you can find online that i've used for my recording called "MTStudio" or "MultiTrack Studio". You can record up to 3 tracks or so and play ones you've finished while recording others (all you need is headphones). Just do a Google search or download.com maybe. If that doesn't work, add "Bremmers Audio Design" to your search... you should find it, good luck...

that's a good suggestion blue, but probably the best recording program you can get (not sure if it's still available though) is cool edit pro...a lot of people here use it and you can multi-track as many tracks as you want and there's a lot of other stuff you can do with it
B+P by offer only...thank you

Oh, yes. I've recently downloaded Cool Edit Pro. off of Kazaa. It's a wonderful program. With this and that adaptor Pat tipped me off to, quality of sound as well as ease and accuracy will all be improved in my next post (an original composition I'll be working on for a while). Sadly, though, I'll have to use a synthesized piano in it because all I have is an old, child-sized keyboard. Heh. Though if I can get my good friend Craig to record the midi track through GPO then you won't be able to tell it's not a real piano anyway. :)

Thanks for your positive feedback, guys. I'll get around to fixing the solo this next week sometime, because it really is awful sounding. XD

ps.

Yeah, Blue, in the outroduction voice tracks? It is pretty cool sounding. Kudos to Kansas. Here's how I play that part, if anyone wants to learn:
