the rythm is pretty choppy in some parts. A few times it seems like you're rushing to get back on the one. Also, when you are trying to get faster runs in, it doesnt stay too clean.l Last thing, is it just me or does the tapping part not seem to have a definit rythm. I have the Justin King, but yours sounds like a bunch of notes put together in no particular tempo or order. I dont know, it just might be me.

i comletely agree the tapping part isnt loud enough. mah fingers are pretty callused (no pain atleast) and im pressing as hard as i can (hence the slipping off the fretboard atthe beginning of the 2nd tapping measure). i think part of it may be that the rest of the song is so loud. ill work on it and thanks for the comment patdmbguitar718 wrote:alrighty.
i was fairly impressed. you played very cleanly, good job.
Howevvvver, work on your tapping. You're not getting anything out of it. When you slide up right before you tap that harmonic, you're just sliding from anywhere to anywhere. There's specific notes that you slide to and from, and you don't have the rhythm down with that part. The tapping section was weak. Work on getting your right hand fingers calloused and practice alot.
So yeah, good job except for all the tapping. You need to work on that. It sounded sub-par to me.

well, i am hitting the notes and they are fairly on rythm, but only some of them are coming through. some are not loud enough to overcome the actual sound of my finger hitting the fretboard on the vid. i need to get that part louder. thanks for the commentBeauford33 wrote:the rythm is pretty choppy in some parts. the motherfucker wont load for me
EDIT: nevermind...
hmmm... it seems like everything but the first section needs some work. the descending 7th chords need a lot of work in terms of rhythm. it would be a good idea to syncopate like you were doing if you had other instruments backing you up, but since you are by yourself, it just sounds empty. work on getting the strumming technique down in order to fill some space with muting
the tapping was quite far from being on rhythm, you sped it up WAY too much. make sure those each bass not is getting the full half note (two beats) value. and you really aren't getting ANY volume at all out of them, and you CAN'T blame that on anything else but lack of technique. i'll give you the same advice i gave teego about this technique. look at your thumb on your left hand: notice how it is just resting way above the neck? you cannot get the leverage necessary to tap those bass notes unless you place your thumb in the proper position on the back of the neck. it may take work to get it accurate, but it sounds so much better.
and i really couldn't even tell if you were playing the correct melodic rhythm on th tapping part...
good job on the phunky part though

Thats what I was gonna say. The transitions from slap to the knockin were kind of off. The last one was pretty good though.fatjack wrote:the motherfucker wont load for me

Overall, I thought you did a great job. I was definitely impressed. That tapping section needs to flow better and sound cleaner, but other than that I thought it was pretty sweet.

Good fucking job dude. That's way cleaner than I could play it right now. I'm very impressed with the phunky part.
As far as advice on the tapping: Remember, in this song the pull off is almost more important than the hammer on. Justin's getting a lot of his sound from the pull of in this song at least. I find that if I flick my finger EVER SO SLIGHTLY downward when I pull off, it tends to ring the open string (or the note that I have my finger on further up the neck) moreso. It'll help fill all the space there with sound, that way you'll be able to play it slower.
But again, good fucking job man. Care to give any insight on how you got the rest to sound so damn clean? Especially the fast part.

err... am i supposed to tap the bass notes? i just pluck them with my thumb... i saw what you said to teego btw and i began using that on tapping songs with the left hand. since ir=ts hard to hear the tapping on the vid ill post a clip tonight of me playin it on my chet. that way you can tell me where my rythm is off. i do have a tendency to speeed that up (probably because when i first saw the song all i could think about was how fast that was)fatjack wrote:

as i said in previous threads, the slap section was my main incentive to learn this song and i spent a grear deal of time tryin to perfect that.
EDIT: alright heres a clip i did real fast. http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=312F ... N01M4Z34A1
the tapping part comes through much louder on my chet because of the light strings and the lower action. where specifically is the rythm off? (i achknowledge that it is)
