they help in that you learn proper technique and how to preserve your voice. it will also make the high notes easier. i take voice lessons and do the choir thing, and i just use two different voices basically. voice lessons have helped my singing, be it in the proper style or my style.

yo man...did I say anything about creativity?mbgreen wrote:Sorry if I overreacted a bit. But I just get tired of people actually giving less credibility to someone with some creativity.
As far as being able to tell if its TB or not, I admit the intro is different. But after that, to say that you cant tell its TB at all comes off more insulting than anything else, especially considering the source.
and I'm sick of people dogging me if I play it too accurately...If you play it Dave's it sounds the best...I dont give a fuck who you are. If you don't agree with that statement, then why the hell didnt you write tripping billies???

whoa whoa whoa. i agree that whoever said that came out too strongly against you, jason, as there was nothing negative in your post, only that you couldn't tell it was billies at the beginning. i couldn't either. but let's not let this blow up.

Jason, I thought you were talking about the whole song. If you weren't, sorry about blowing up. My mistake. And I have heard your billies...it is great. Outright the most accurate and clean cover I've heard. I just get the impression, from reading your posts, that you think playing the song exactly the way dave does is the only respectable way to do it, or that you cant be the best unless you do. I disagree with that. But I suppose this isnt the place to discuss this anymore, so if you want to reply pm me. (Not that Im saying thats necessary either.)
This is definitely the most creative TB cover I've heard yet. Just to throw some thread-related content in here.

I like the cover SO much...you did make it your own, but that is why i liked it...the mandolin is always a cool add to most ANY song...
I think if the award went to originality and all around creativeness, then you should win - but if we are comparing it as a closer replica, I don't know that it would be fair to the rest to do so...
GOOD WORK
