Hey guys, this is a pre-studio recording that my bandmate and i are working on... it's something we're trying to throw together for the first song on the 5 song cd we're trying to release in mid june... i would love some feedback about the atmosphere and feel to the song... maybe any suggestions or what not... it'd be our first song so it needs to be slamming!

thanks!

it doesn't have a melody, is the only thing I have to say about it.. I think the intro is a little too drawn out, but the rest of it is a cool jam with no melody.

the newer version has a motif that we use throughout the piece, though i feel like this recording is rather similar to the versioin we're doing now. But yeah there is rarely a melody in my music... is this something surprising? (seriously)

The intro did drag I have to agree, but overall I enjoyed it.

I dunno, I couldn't recall any of your other tracks to say.. but then it dawned on me.. there was no melody to latch onto for me to remember them

Seriously though, I listened to couple other of your tracks just now and I think as a general them to you music, you have poor musical structure.. maybe it is something you have never thought about? It would seem that you know how to improv out something interesting, but that's only half the battle (granted, it is the half most people find way more difficult).

A song without a melody is like background noise

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... i would think it's a little harsh to call my stuff background noise... maybe not, maybe im just optimistic ;)

Maybe our definitions of melodies are different... when i think of most of my songs there are hooks that are repeated, anna for example, or falling from the clouds... unfortunatley much of the songs i post up here are the improvised first versions, which are a bit devoid of a set structure, though most of the stuff my band is performing has structured parts and areas... with a jam part in there somewhere... is that what you're talking about?>

kind of reminds me of led zeppelin in the intro - nice jonathan. I am by no means an expert on this kind of thing, but once you get rolling into the song a few parts I almost wanted to hear a single guitar pick out a lick and be like yeah that's right and go back into the full jam. really nice lead you have in there - the bridge is lovely.

oh hey man, I didn't mean to insult you.. I just was goofing a bit. I think you've got an original perspective, I just think it needs to evolve some.. and you are right, I haven't heard everything you've recorded or anything... so maybe I am just making an opinion from some tracks that weren't the creme of the crop.. sorry if you took offense, I am just one dude with a particular expectation to music I listen to.

I like this song, i understand why people think vocals would sound good with it, but it dosnt neccesarily need any vocals, mabey just the lead guitar turned up a bit in the mix. Great work and good guitar playing-

your gonna need to turn down the low end on the beginning of the song there, i found myself reaching for the bass knob on my speakers because those low drones were so overpowering.

the intro did drag on a bit, you'll need to take care of that because anyone listening to it that wasn't critiquing it would have hit "next" on the cd player after about 30 seconds

it was a cool groove and very interesting progression, very thought provoking
