im sure this has been a topic but i was wondering if anyone had any tips for me. i want to just understand how to even start top tap. ive played for 5 years so im a pretty decent player, i'd just like to widen my playing ability. any suggestions would be great. thanks guys!

oh James, I see what you did here, and it's brilliant. But I think what the kid really meant was tapping that ass, you big silly goof. PM, I know all there is to know about that

maybe get a teacher? or...books? (don't know if you're the type that could learn from a book)

Make sure to put your thumb directly behind the fretboard with your left hand, it'll be much harder to be accurate, but you'll get more sound out of it. TRUST ME, learn the right way first.

As far as your right hand, use more than one finger. Force yourself to use AT LEAST your pointer and middle fingers. I find for stability I press my thumb against the top of the fretboard. The top as in to the left of the low E string.

left or right hand?

theres really no way to explain it... just press real hard a bunch of times until sound comes out, you need to get the hang of it.

im guess what im really concerned about or trying to figure out is how to get a good popping or slapping sound, maybe im not hitting hard enough or in the wrong spot?
